The Deal: Registration is now open for World Summit Youth Awards 2011 that are open to young people (under the age of 30 years from any of the UN member states) that have developed any sort of innovative project or product using information technology aimed at helping their community.

The reward is not cash, but rather serves as recognition to spur networking and innovation.  It demonstrates young people’s potential to create outstanding digital contents and serves as a platform for people from all UN member states to work together in the efforts to reach the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Internship: Summer Contractor Guatemala Field Trial

RainSaucers

The Deal: RainSaucers, a company working to manufactures standalone rainwater harvesting (RWH) systems designed to make RWH cleaner, simpler, and more flexible, is seeking an Independent Contractor to bring the field trials units to Guatemala and implement them in a variety of field examples and monitor their performance and end user feedback throughout the summer (June – August 2011).

Some requirements are intermediate Spanish, experience working with PVC and performing basic plumbing tasks, experience traveling to developing countries, as well as a personal laptop and digital camera with video capability.

Conference: Green Jobs + Social Innovation Retreat

Internship: DNRC Forestry Intern

Drylands Natural Resource Center

The Deal: The Drylands Natural Resource Centre (DNRC) is primarily focussed on reforestery in Kenya. They are currently looking for a number of interns that could volunteer 8-12 weeks of time working in a rural area in Kenya. The positions would be for a range of positions that range from communications to operations. The DNRC will cover all lodging and food costs but travel is up to you.

Fellowship: YAN Global Fellowship

The Deal: YouthActionNet helps to connect and support young social entrepreneurs from around the world. In addition to their online marketplace they have a fellowship for founders between 18-29. The fellowship enables one to reach a network of international NGO's and Corporate Partners and travel all-expense-paid to Washington DC for a 7 day summit. Past awardees have included the founder of Souktel and Emerge Global among a wide list of others.

They are looking for someone for their business development team on both their knowledge and insight teams. +DreamNow: Red Fish School of Change is run by an old friend of ours Nadine Raynolds who we met when we used to work with the Sierra Youth Coalition. We have had other friends attend the program and they all claimed it was a transformational experience.

Award: Brower Youth Award

Earth Island Institute

The Deal: The Brower Youth Awards are given to six young environmental leaders each year from the ages of  13 to 22.  In addition to the award, you receive $3000 dollars in cash, a week-long trip to San Francisco,  training, access to media, contacts and a chance to present your work at the Bioneers Conference. This is a great opportunity for all individuals between the ages of 13 - 22 living in North America.

+ DreamNow: We first connected with the Brower Youth Award team at the Bioneers Conference three years ago. They are a great group and do a really good job providing support and recognition to youth leaders in the environmental movement. Several of our friends have won over the years and they all have great things to say-- from the speaking engagements to the award ceremony itself.
