YouthActionNet: Global Fellowship

The Deal: YouthActionNet helps to connect and support young social entrepreneurs from around the world. In addition to their online marketplace they have a fellowship for founders between 18-29. The fellowship enables one to reach a network of international NGO's and Corporate Partners and travel all-expense-paid to Washington DC for a 7 day summit. Past awardees have included the founder of Souktel and Emerge Global among a wide list of others.

Fellowship: Blue Engine Education Fellows

The Deal: We wrote about Blue Engine once before. They are an educational nonprofit start up that grew out of past alumni of the Teach for America program. Read more about them here. They have recently announced they are accepting application for their fellows programs which includes a stipend to do some high impact tutoring.

Opportunity: 6 Week Expense Paid Innovation Camp in Berlin

The Deal: This is an opportunity to work differently, build a project, work with 30 people from around the world and spend 6 weeks in Berlin all expense paid including airfaire, food, accomodation and material costs. Living in a converted factory with 30 others from around the world, Palomar5 and their partners will bring you together and fund you to build and collaborate on a new kind of workspace from the beginning to success. The Deal: UNGAID is looking for youth who have used technology for community development projects. If you have found a way to use technology in an innovative way to change your community then you could win their fellowship which provides you with the opportunity to attend their conference in Monterrey, Mexico and be featured in a report that is going to the UN General Assembly.

Award: Brower Youth Awards

The Deal:  The Brower Youth Awards are given to six young environmental leaders each year from the ages of  13 to 22.  In addition to the award, you receive $3000 dollars in cash, a week-long trip to San Francisco,  training, access to media, contacts and a chance to present your work at the Bioneers Conference in 2009.

+ DreamNow:   Friends of ours from the Sierra Youth Coalition have won this award in the past and we have had the chance to attend and work with the Bioneers folks a few years ago. The award is an amazing opportunity and has had several Canadian winners in the past.

Fellowship: Pop!Tech Social Innovation Fellows

The Deal: The Pop!Tech Conference happens yearly and is a TED-like conference for social innovators. They choose 15 Social Innovation Fellows each year who receive both an all-expense-paid development program run by well-networked industry leaders and the chance to present and pitch their projects at the annual Pop!Tech Conference to media and a network of people that range from Imogen Heap to Van Jones.

+ DreamNow: One of our friends, Abby Falik, was a fellow in 2008 for her program Global Citizen Year. Things have really taken off for Abby in the last year a lot of which can be tracked back to her experience at the Pop!Tech conference—proof that it works.  We became friends with Abby in 2004 when we were both fellows at the Oxfam IYP conference another great one to check out.

Job: StartingBloc, Executive Director

The Deal: StaringBloc runs a fellowship program for university students that are interested in Social Entrepreneurship. It is an amazing network and an organization that is well connected to most major players in the social entrepreneurship world. Based out of New York, they are looking for a new Executive Director.  It is a small organization of two staff but has hundreds of fellows each year.

+DreamNow:  DreamNow attended the 2004 fellowship program in NYC. The networks that we built have formed the foundation for the Occupation: Change the World program in addition to introducing us to a number of people that we continue to work with today.
