The Deal: The World Economic Forum is looking for a Community Manager to work in sub-Saharan Africa with various stakeholders in the business sector.

The benefits are great, as you join the Forum as a part of the Global Leadership Fellows Programme. As such, you will be fully integrated in the World Economic Forum and benefit from an intensive work and learning experience intended to develop and train future leaders of global enterprises and international organizations.

But, likewise, the requirements are steep, as they expect candidates to have an excellent knowledge of African business, politics and culture; a Master’s degree in business or international relations; and three or more years of professional experience, to name a few requirements.

Internship: DNRC Forestry Intern

Drylands Natural Resource Center

The Deal: The Drylands Natural Resource Centre (DNRC) is primarily focussed on reforestery in Kenya. They are currently looking for a number of interns that could volunteer 8-12 weeks of time working in a rural area in Kenya. The positions would be for a range of positions that range from communications to operations. The DNRC will cover all lodging and food costs but travel is up to you.

Job: Athletes for Africa, Communication + Fundraising Positions

Athletes for Africa

The Deal: Athletes for Africa is most well known for their yearly Gulu Walk which raises awareness about the night commutes of children in Northern Uganda. They also run yearly fundraiser/awareness building events such as soccer tournaments with indie rockstars from the likes of Broken Social Scene and Weezer competing against people like Michael Cera--- an all around good time. Currently they are looking for both a communications specialist and fundraising professional. The positions are based in Toronto.

+ DreamNow: Athletes for Africa is run by a friend of DreamNow's named Adrian Bradbury. We met him through the Walter and Duncan Gordon Foundation when he was named a Gordon Global Fellow in 2006.

The Deal: The Akilah Institute works in Rwanda to give young women the skills they need to gain employment and become leaders in their community. They are based out of Washington, but are building a school in partnership with Architecture for Humanity and developing programing in Rwanda. They are hiring for a program, operations and development director. It sounds like a great opportunity if you want to dive right into educational development in Africa.

One Acre Fund

The Deal: One Acre Fund is a development organization start up that deals with issues of hunger in Africa. They are offering a position that is a perfect 'starter' development job for recent graduates. They will do the training, they are looking for passion and a willingness to work and develop a career in international development.
