Event: BAR Philanthropy

DreamNow + the Milennium Network

The Deal: A few weeks ago we asked a question: What if everyone in the room was a funder?  and since then we have been working hard and came up with an experiment to find out the answer. The experiment is called BAR Philanthropy  and it is going to be happening in Toronto at a bar called Czehoski at 6:30pm on Thursday the 19th of November. 

How it works is simple, in fact we drew a diagram.

Job: Blue Engine, Employee #1

Blue Engine

The Deal: Blue Engine is a New York based social startup that is run by a Teach for America Alumnus. The goal is to put recent college graduates into high-need schools enabling them to run tutorials for students all-day long supplementing the great work teachers are already doing. The job is based in Brooklyn and looks exciting. The first hire has a lot of responsibility so in Nick the founders own words:  "The stakes are high. Nervous? Don't apply. Doubt you can pull this off? Don't apply. Excited to partner with senior leadership to build America's next generation service project from the ground up? Keep on reading." 

+ DreamNow: This opportunity was sent our way via a friend at Teach for America who has great things to say about Nick. Blue Engine is incubated by the Blue Ridge Foundation another group that is worth checking out if you have a start up non profit and are in NYC.

Job: One, Field Coordinator

The One Campaign

Deadline: ASAP

The Deal: ONE is the campaign that is headed by Bono and is working around the world to end poverty and avoidable disease. They are a media-savvy, young and fast paced group that is growing. You have probably seen their videos from a few years ago, if not, check them out here.

They are hiring a number for a number of positions in the US including Field Coordinator which is all about on the ground organizing and grassroots action. All you need is a Bachelors Degree, the will and some community expereince.
